A Time of Restoration
As the new heavens and the new earth which I am making will endure before me, says the Lord, so shall your posterity and your name endure. (Isaiah 66:22)
A Fresh Look
During 2021 we undertook to have the exterior of the church painted. Repairs were done to the roof and extensive repairs were carried out on the bell tower. Fresh storm windows have been built and will be installed this season.
We are proud of our beautiful church and hope that it can be a source of inspiration and community in Lakelands.
Attending to the Interior
The coming months will give us an opportunity to undertake significant work inside the church. We envision an interior that is comforting and uplifting.
A new heat source will be installed. Work will be carried out on the ceiling work. The entire interior will be repainted. Changes to the furnishings are contemplated.
The Exterior
A Fresh Coat of Paint
The COVID pandemic provided an opportunity for us to undertake much-needed painting of the exterior. We maintained our worship life through online services and occasional use of the hall. The church was freed up to allow work to be done.
The Tower
Repairs Carried Out
During the course of painting the exterior it was discovered that a significant amount of damage had been done to the tower by water infiltration. Repairs added to the cost of the work but we now have a tower that will serve us for years to come.
Work to Be Done
So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything old has passed away; see, everything has become new! (2 Cor. 5:17)
As we move forward on improvements to the interior of the church there are several questions that will need to be resolved. You can download two documents that provide an overview of these questions. One is a presentation with photos that explains the situation. You can open the presentation by clicking the button.
In the section below you will see a flowchart indicating decisions and pointing to a possible work plan.
Flowchart of Interior Decisions
We have a bit of work to do before "everything can become new."
A plan is beginning to take shape. Some work will need to be done before other work can take place. Some jobs need to be coordinated. Everything needs to be budgeted and scheduled. A financial campaign to support the work is contemplated.
The direction the work is to take will be set by a number of decisions.
The flowchart sets out the various tasks and the questions that surround them. As you read the flowchart you will see that the pink ovals list the areas of concern in horizontal rows. Blue diamond shapes indicate decision points. Follow the dotted lines to get a sense of how some questions relate to others.
Contributions Welcome
We want to ensure that our lovely little church remains a vibrant centre of worship for many years to come. We hope to be able to carry out a variety of helpful activities within the community. Our church will serve as the basis for such work.
If you would like to help out with this effort, please feel free to make a donation or contact us.
